Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC was founded in 1876 by John Mitchell. Their first pastor was Reverend George Roe and some of the charter members included a Lannie Mitchell and Sarah Mitchell. Before the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed Snow’s Cut in 1930, connecting the Intracoastal Waterway to the Cape Fear River, Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church was the only church in the Carolina Beach/Federal Point Community. It’s website stated that the existing church building was built between 1902 and 1915 by a man named Turner for $1.00 per day.
My journey with photography started out as a hobby and grew into a passion and maybe even an obsession. I tend to gravitate toward themes involving cars, music and nature but photograph a wide variety of subjects because I think you can find beauty and inspiration in everything.
