Description
The more I look at this photograph of an adult egret watching over its young the more interesting it seems to become. The range of their necks has always amazed me but you can also see the nictitating membrane that helps protect the eyes of birds and other animals but I honestly think the adult is just praying for the kids to take a nap! The photograph was taken at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, Florida.
