Description
John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont, in 1804 and as a young man became known for his workmanship and ingenuity as a blacksmith. After moving to Illinois and becoming aware of an issue with cast iron plows from the farmers he did business with, he developed the first commercially successful self-scouring steel plow in 1837. Its success turned into a business and a company that still bears his name today. And everyone knows that..."Nothing runs like a Deere".
