Artist's Description
Barn owls are one of the most widely distributed species of owls in the world being found on six continents. As its names implies, many times it can be found nesting and raising its family in barns, church belfries and similar structures. The barn owl is considered a bird of prey, feeding mainly on mice and rats and has such great vision and hearing that it can hunt in total darkness. This photograph was taken at a demonstration by the Winged Ambassadors at the Tartan Day South festival, a festival that celebrates Celtic culture and heritage in the South Carolina midlands.
About John Kirkland
My journey with photography started out as a hobby and grew into a passion and maybe even an obsession. I tend to gravitate toward themes involving cars, music and nature but photograph a wide variety of subjects because I think you can find beauty and inspiration in everything. Thanks so much for stopping by to view my gallery. I hope they leave you with some great memories!
